V.P. General Manager – Steve Kelly
Steve joined Allied Mechanical Incorporated in 1999 and has been part of the aerospace manufacturing industry since 1978. He has previously held positions in manufacturing engineering, design engineering, program management and sales & marketing.
Steve was involved with the MK-80 series CDI development program from 1995 through 1999 while employed by Tolo Incorporated and with Allied Mechanical from 1999 through the receipt of the BDU-50C/B production order in 2004.
As Vice President / General Manager of AMW, Mr. Kelly has been involved with all aspects of the BDU-50C/B manufacturing process; from facility design and start-up through first article, pre-production and production activities. In January 2005 Steve relocated to Greenville, Wisconsin where he manages our AMW state-of-the-art manufacturing facility which is dedicated to MK-80 Series Cast Ductile Iron Bomb Production.
Mr. Kelly received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and has been awarded several U.S. patents for new structural technology.
Quality Assurance Manager – Paul Konopa
Paul joined AMW in January 2005 after the company received the initial production order for 28,750 units of the BDU-50C/B Cast Ductile Iron Bomb. Paul is responsible for development of the quality system, quality manual, inspection test plans, statistical process control (SPC) plans and inspection techniques for the BDU-50C/B program within AMW’s facility located in Greenville, Wisconsin.
Reporting directly to the Vice President and General Manager, Mr. Konopa is responsible for quality assurance management and is the point of contact for both supplier and customer quality related issues.
Prior to joining AMW Mr. Konopa held Project Engineering, Quality Engineering and Quality Management positions with several Aerospace / Defense companies including; Woodward Governor, Alliant Tech-systems, Smiths Aerospace and DeCrane Aircraft Seating Company.
Mr. Konopa holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and a Masters in Business Administration Degree from Cardinal Stritch University. Mr. Konopa is a Certified Quality Engineer with the American Society for Quality.
Office of the President – John Terranova (Business Development / Technical Support)
John has over thirty (30) years of experience in Aerospace / Defense industries, with nearly 22 years of that experience in General Purpose Bombs, both forged steel and cast ductile iron. Mr. Terranova joined Allied Mechanical in January 2000, as Marketing and Technical associate for MK-80 Series Cast Ductile Iron Bomb Development and Production. He is actively involved with production, marketing and strategic planning, as well as development, qualification and monitoring of production start-up and testing conducted at all our partner foundries.
Mr. Terranova held the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tolo, Inc. from August 1994 to November 1997. In September 1995 Tolo received the development contract for the MK-80 Series Cast Ductile Iron Bomb and after Tolo Inc. was sold to Rohr / BF Goodrich Aerospace in November 1997, Mr. Terranova continued as V.P. General Manager / Business Development through November 1999.
Prior to joining Tolo, Mr. Terranova was Executive Vice President of Operations (1989 – 1994) for Intercontinental Manufacturing Company (IMCO) a manufacturer of MK-80 series steel bomb bodies, Castor IV and Atlas Missile casings, and various metallic structures for aerospace and defense.
A graduate of the State University of New York, Mr. Terranova holds a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering and is a current and past member of several professional organizations.
